Ortaea Fine Jewellery
Our World
Inherent to the founders is a family history of generations in Kenya committed to the Environment and Empowerment. With reforestation, wildlife preservation, education and skill building being a part of their natural course of life, a deep respect for Nature was an intrinsic part of their lives, as was community.
From the social concerns of conflict gems, working conditions and basic needs, mining is also extractive and has an undeniable impact on the environment. The journey and responsibility is constant and involves a combination of governments, mining companies, site holders, wholesalers and retailers. We work with reputable site holders and suppliers with a zero tolerance on conflict diamonds. Our policy is to sever ties with any supplier who we suspect does not conform with international ethical standards and we look to work with mining companies who aspire to restore their footprint and enhance the lives of surrounding communities.
Ortaea is abundant with creations expressing the majesty and environmental significance of natural wonders. As part of our responsibility we give back to causes aligned with our brand values. Our one of a kind ‘Princess of Monaco’ Koral Cuff Bangle and Our HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco Necklace were designed to be auctioned in aid of the Monaco Gala for the Global Ocean 2018 and 2019 respectively. Our Maji Cuff Bangle was donated for auction to raise funds at the renowned AMFAR Gala in Milan over Fashion week September 2019 and our stunning vintage emerald earrings were auctioned in Capri in aid of UNICEF in August 2020. We have also begun on a journey to plant as many trees as we can over the next 5 years. We have started with 1000 trees and we will be planting a tree for every GBP 100 spent online at Ortaea. The project has a wholly integrated approach involving community, recycling and bees.
